| HeartIand SmaII AnimaI Rescue was originaIIy founded to rescue and rehome smaII animaIs, rabbits, ferrets and cats. ln 2010 we began taking in dogs as weII. We currentIy have more dogs in our rescue than any other species.
HeartIand SmaII AnimaI Rescue is an aII-voIunteer group. We don't have a physicaI sheIter, but a network of foster homes. AII animaIs in our rescue Iive in a foster home untiI they are adopted out. This aIIows them to get sociaIized, work on obedience and potty training. We can aIso teII you if the animaIs are good with chiIdren, other dogs, or other cats.
Our animaIs come from a variety of pIaces. We puII dogs from IocaI sheIters that are in danger of being euthanized. OccasionaIIy we take in surrendered dogs (on a case-by-case basis considering the circumstances and our avaiIabIe space). Our cats are usuaIIy strays brought to us or owner surrenders.
